Residential Design Services

On the residential side, Heather’s ten years of experience bring a great sensitivity to the challenges and privileges of a project involving the sanctuary of home. This environment should help make the most of precious private time, as it blocks out the white noise of life. When a client is seeking change, small or large, imagining the possibilities is an exciting exercise! Heather carefully assesses her involvement needed according to the client’s particular desires and budget, offering two levels of service for those seeking direction:

Hourly Consulting

This service is available to the client who desires open-ended design consulting to address issues such as furniture placement, paint color, lighting, and accessories selection, hanging of artwork, or assessment of an existing space needing further work. Follow up appointments are offered, but not necessary, either at the client’s home or at the designer’s retail showroom store. The client may purchase the service on an as-needed basis.

Design Concept Planning

The majority of Heather’s clients find that purchasing this level of service most successfully provides the assistance needed when considering changes more involved than new paint or furniture arrangement. Heather brings a layered approach to planning an interior, which is most clearly defined by an affinity for combining subtly rich finishes, elements of modern design, and details of the natural world to update classic style with timeless appeal.

After initial meetings to determine scope, budget and preferences, an in-depth design study is conducted. Careful floor plans and perspective renderings of the Heather’s proposed furnished space are then produced, with a corresponding finalized budget, detailing every specification and selection for the client. This process proves invaluable for carrying out a project within budget and in keeping with a client’s original vision. The client is under no further obligation, after purchasing the plan, if he/she wishes to carry it out on their own.  However, implementation of the plan is available for an additional Project Management Fee.

This service is ideal for:

- Those wishing to update their home with a new layout and selections of new items to work with their favorite existing furniture, artwork or finishes find this service a very helpful alternative to “starting over from scratch”.

- Clients changing location also benefit from this level of service, hiring Heather to provide a plan which incorporates their existing pieces into a new context – in combination with the necessary additions – for a fresh start.

- Collaboration with an architect in planning the interior space of a new home or addition is another opportunity for Heather to help ensure that the new space is devised to support the lifestyle and accommodate the furniture a client treasures.

Commercial Design Services

Heather’s commercial design is driven by careful collaboration in defining a client’s concept…understanding the desired feel of the space, analysis of local competition, understanding the target patron. Product and design knowledge in the areas of lighting, furnishings, materials and work flow appropriate for each project is applied to evoke a dynamic, original space which promised to be unique on every level. Careful renderings of the finished space with a corresponding budget, detailing every specification and selection, are approved before commencing work…a process which proves invaluable in carrying out a project within budget and consistent with a client’s original vision.
