How to live a modern life in a traditional house? These young clients wanted the house and neighborhood, but not the style. So we infused the space with updated materials, images and shapes -- while respecting the structural lines. Two big moves: covering the kitchen walls in tiny irridescent mosaics, and tearing out the vaulted wall of golden oak paneling in exchange for plaster and a linear fireplace. Oooh, lala.
